Ramiro Beltran "Randy" Garibay was born in San Antonio's Palm Heights neighborhood on December 3, 1939 the son of Mexican immigrants Isidro Garibay and Felice Beltran.
A Texas legend from the streets of San Antonio, Randy Garibay was considered by many as the "Godfather of San Antonio Blues" and the "Chicano Bluesman". He first sang with the Velvets and then the Pharaohs while attending Burbank High School. He performed in Texas and Mexico and sang backup vocals for Doug Sahm on some of Doug Sahm's earliest recordings, including "Crazy Daisy." One of Garibay's biggest hits was a song about his neighborhood "Barbacoa Blues". He performed all over the world with many recording stars and he was well respected in the music business.
