Services Here For Retired Painter, 88
George H Lee, 88, retired painter who spent the major portion of his life here, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday in a hospital at Miami, Florida of burns suffered last Wednesday at his home there. He had been in failing health several years.
Born in Switzerland County June 21, 1883, he was the son of William J. and Matilda Glenn Lee. Coming to Greensburg with his parents as a young boy, he was educated in the local public schools.
For many years Mr. Lee was employed as a painter by the firm of C. H. Oliger and Sons. After retirement he moved to Florida about 15 years ago to make his home with a daughter, Mrs. Manfred (Goldie Mae) Zimmer.
He was united in marriage here in 1904 with Eva Buchanan, who preceded him in death Aug. 3, 1924.
Surviving with the daughter with whom he lived are: another daughter, Mrs. Baylor (Hazel) BeDunnah, Miami, Fla.; a son, Arnold Lee, Garden Grove, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. William (Lou) McCormack, St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were one daughter, Mrs. Opal Bockover in 1956; four brothers, Jess, Mort, Clarence, and Frank Lee; and one sister, Mrs. Bell Wilson.
Time of the funeral service and visitation will be announced by J. H. Porter and Sons Funeral Home.
