Vern E. Ward, 90, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away February 1, 2008 in Sandy, UT from complications following surgery.




Vern was born in Oakley, UT, one of 8 children, to Ada RoseAnna Gibbons Ward and Alfred J. Ward on July 23, 1917. He served in the Army from 1941 thru 1945. In 1951, he married Melva R. Sorenson, and together they raised four daughters. They divorced in 1978. He married Lucille Hicks in 1979, enjoying her companionship and love until her death in October, 2000.




He is survived by daughters, Tara LaVerne, Sharon and Melva; stepsons, Rex and James, brother, Karl; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.




Vern was a loving and responsible father and husband, wonderful friend and great neighbor. His wisdom and strong spirit will be deeply missed.





Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy. A Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the Services.
