Lucia, who often went by the name "Lucy" was the daughter of Vincenzo Rotondo (an opera singer) and Emanuela Garcona. Her family had just immigrated to New York city when she was born, and it wasn't a long stay before they all headed back to Italy. While living in Apice Italy, Lucia was asked by Carmela Carppuva if she would return to America and marry her son. Lucia agreed and at 20 years old, with no more than $25 in her pocket, she set out on the journey to Plymouth Massachusetts alone.

Upon arriving she met her new husband, Pasquale Iandoli, and they married. They had 3 children together, Carmela, Mary and Louis. But Lucia wasn't happy, and at the age of 35 she suffered a nervous breakdown. She lived out the rest of her life at the Taunton State Lunatic Hospital. Her children would visit her whenever they could, bringing her gifts and trying their best to make her feel loved.

Lucia is missed and her family regrets that she lived during a time when mental illness was not well understood. May her mind be at peace and may she finally rest.
