Spc. Brandon A. Meyer of Orange, Calif., 20, of Orange, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died Jan. 28 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his unit encountered an improvised explosive device during convoy operations. Also killed were Sgt. James E. Craig, Staff Sgt. Gary W. Jeffries, Spc. Evan A. Marshall and Pvt. Joshua A.R. Young. He leaves his wife, Catlin, his parents, Terry and Genia Meyer, a sister, Desiree Meyer, his grandparents, Norbert and Tena Meyer of Beatrice; his grandfather, retired Master Sgt. Eugene Martinusen of Belleville, Ill.; his great-grandmother, Rose Smith of Houston; and other family, Tom and Elaine Rouse and children Amber, Beth, Alex and Ryan, Leo and Donna Martinusen and children Jonathon and Tina, Rick and Lisa Meyer and children Abby and Johnathon, and Christina Martinusen.
