Daughter of Samuel Sanford Pennell and Mary Louisa Van Horn Pennell, she died of typhoid fever. She had an older half sister named Oma Blalock (born Dec 1895) and another older sister named Ona Pennell (born Jan 1899). Two younger sisters, Maye E Pennell (born 1904) and Fay Pennell (born 1906).

Her paternal grandparents were James P. Pennell and Melvina Furlough. Aunts and uncles on this side: Martha J. Pennell (born 1872), Richard O. Pennell (born 1874), Mary A. Pennell (born 1879), James Homer Pennell (born March 1886) and William Henry Pennell (born April 1889).

Maternal grandparents were T.J. (Thomas James?) Van Horn and Cassie/Carrie Patterson/Bowman. Aunt and uncles on this side included Bryce Van Horn (born 1877), Rosa Elizabeth Van Horn Shull Bullington (born April 27 1878), Lee L. Van Horn (born Feb 1883), Dora M. Van Horn (born Jun 1887) and Lety Van Horn (born Feb 1888).

She was also survived by several cousins on both sides. She was buried on October 22, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Purdy, Missouri.

The two pictures to the right has S.S. Pennell's handwritting on the back of the girls, ordering copies of it. That picture looks to have been taken in front of the same house as the one of the group.

She died of Typhoid Fever.
