Davis-Miller Funeral Home

Lee R. Gardner, age 75, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday evening, January 26, 2008, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1932, in Preston, Missouri, the son of Stephen and Catherine Randolph Gardner.

His father was a minister and the family lived in several towns in southern and central Missouri while Lee was growing up. He graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1950.

After high school he moved to Urbana with his family. He was working with his father and brother, Jerry, painting homes in the Urbana area where he met, fell in love with, and married Lora Reser on May 24, 1954. They were married by his father, Rev. Stephen Gardner in Lovington, New Mexico.

Following their marriage, they lived for a brief time in Denver City, Texas, later moving to Lincoln, Missouri in 1956. Unto this union, one daughter, Cheri Lee was born.

Lee continued his work as a painter with his father and brother and they painted many homes in this area.

He was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church of Lincoln.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Jerry Gardner, and a sister, Frances McKee.

Surviving is his devoted wife, Lora, of the home, a daughter, Cheri Lee Chockley and her husband, Troy, of Jefferson City, Missouri, two grandchildren, Randy Chockley, and his wife, Meghan, of Peoria, Illinois, and Christina Chockley and her fiancée, Jason Neil, of New York City, New York, a brother, Emmett Gardner, and wife, Evelyn, of Lincoln, a sister-in-law, Lavada Gardner, of Lincoln and a brother-in-law, Bill McKee of Denison, Texas, 5 nieces and one nephew, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Lee Gardner will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Rew and Evangelist Charles Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln United Methodist Church or the Benton County Hospice in care of the funeral home.
