Cedar Falls Iowa: Thomas Howard Anderson, 69, a retired mail carrier and long time resident of Cedar Falls died at 3:15 am Sunday at his home, 924 W 22nd. He had been in failing health for the past 6 years and had spent several months in the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born Nov 27, 1890 at Aurelia, Iowa the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peterson. His parents died while he was still a young child and he and an older sister were reared by a Mr. and Mrs. Judd M. Fisk, former Cedar Falls residents; they preceded him in death.

Anderson enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1916 and served 4 years, most of it during the 1st W.W. He served in the Dominican Republic as a corporal and later was promoted the the rank of sergeant. Following his discharge in 1920 he attended a tire and rubber school at Akron, Ohio and later operated a tire shop in Cedar Falls.

On returning from Ohio, he married Mrs. Eleanor Wideman on Jan 18, 1921. Two daughters were born of this union, but one died in infancy.

Survivors include his widow, a daughter Mrs. E. L. (Vernadell) Taylor, Waterloo, and 3 step-children, Mrs. Harry (Alice) Olson, 1116 Main St, Mrs. M. W. (Flossie) Lusthoff, Waterloo and Richard I. Wideman, Janesville, IA. There are also 9 grandchildren.

Anderson served as a mail carrier beginning in 1924 and a parcel post truck driver for 23 years before retiring in 1947 on account of ill health. He was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church, American Legion Post 237 Cedar Falls, and The DAV, also the Retired Postal Workers Club. Dahl Funeral Home.
