Bessie Aylward, 93, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away June 27, 1997, at the Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, Missouri. She was born April 18, 1906, east of Brock in Scotland County, Missouri, the daughter of Rueben F. and Grace Southmayd Hyde. She joined the Brock United Methodist Church in 1915, and was a faithful member. She was united in marriage to Jesse Aylward, February 14, 1925, who preceded her in death March 13, 1986. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Arthur Hyde; two sisters, Phoebe Bull and Erma Hyde; and one nephew Arthur Hyde, Jr. Survivors include one sister LaRue Morris, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the Payne Funeral Chapel, June 30, 1997, with the Rev. Eloise Marx officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Aylward, Don Chancellor, Curvin Dean Martin, Delmar Martin, Robert W. Shelly, and Dean Simerl. Musicians were Guy Gardine and Joan Goosey. Interment was in the Brock Cemetery, north of Memphis, Missouri. Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri was in charge of arrangements.
