Wilbur R. Althaus, 61, highly respected Lewisburg citizen, died of a heart attack 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at his home on South Main street. Although not in vigorous health for a year or two, he was apparently as well as usual and his death was quite a shock and very unexpected. General office clerk at the Lewisburg plant of the Marble Cliff Quarries company since 1909, with an interim of six years, he resigned a few weeks ago because of declining health.

Surviving him are his wife, Vida; two sons, James H. of Akron and Judson, who is in training at the U. S. Navy Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. Kermit (Jeanne) Howell of R. R. 1, Lewisburg. Mrs. E. T. Paul of Liberty, Ind., former local resident, is a sister. There are also two grandchildren

Mr. Althaus had been an active member of the Lewisburg EUB church and had taken a keen interest in civic affairs, especially during the earlier years of his residence here.

Funeral services for Wilbur R. Althaus, 61, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his South Main street
home Tuesday afternoon of last week, were held Saturday afternoon at the Kramer funeral chapel, with Rev. C.C. Messmer, local EUB pastor, officiating. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery here.

Mr. Althaus was born and reared at Bluffton, but came to Lewisburg in 1909, at the age of 21, and resided
here the rest of his life.
