Omaha Daily Bee, November 4, 1906:

The funeral of James Bone occurred from the residence, 549 West Washington avenue, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. James O'May officiating. Mr. Bone was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, November 28, 1834. He later moved to Washington county, Ohio, and from there to Perry county, Ohio. He came to Mills county, Iowa in 1855 and entered 120 acres of land, to which he afterwards added 7,000 acres, and from this he gave a half section to each of his children.

In his early life Mr. Bone read medicine, but his medical career was checked by his entering the army in the Thirty-first Ohio volunteer infantry. He was mustered out at Atlanta in 1864. Interment was in Walnut Hill cemetery, the coffin being an exact counterpart of that in which President McKinley was interred.
