Matthew Thebeau, Corpus Christi Texas Police Officer and United States Navy Veteran. Matthew was the son of Larry and Cyndia Lee (Ezell) Thebeau and a graduate of La Vernia High School in La Vernia, Texas. He served aboard the USS John C. Stennis during Operation Enduring Freedom. After his military service, he worked for Blackwater Worldwide as a firearms instructor at Lackland Air Force Base. He joined the Corpus Christi Police Department in April 2006. Matt loved his job and took great pleasure in helping others. He was well liked by his fellow officers and the people he protected, lived his life to the fullest and made friends easily. People who met him were charmed by his quick smile and enthusiasm for life. Matt was killed in an automobile accident while on duty. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Cyndia Lee Thebeau of La Vernia, Texas; his sister, Amy Conaghan who is serving with the United States Air Force in Great Britain with her husband Andy; his nieces and nephews; his paternal grandmother Vida Thebeau of Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous aunts and uncles: Royce Ezell of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Robert Ezell of Houston, Texas, Peggie Herring of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda Neilson of Williamsburg, Virginia; Dr. Ronald Ezell of Boerne, Texas, Adrian Thebeau of Dallas, Texas, Martha Good of Cedar Springs, Texas, Nancy Yuhasz of Corpus Christi, Texas, Michael Thebeau of Houston, Texas, and Martin Thebeau of Corpus Christi, Texas; and nineteen cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Adrian Louis Thebeau, Sr. and his maternal grandparents, Royce Hansel Ezell and Bertie Lee (May) Ezell.
