Christian Henrich/ Henrinick/Henrick/Henrig / Henry/Henrii/Henri or Hindrichman or Hinrixs

Christian Henrich was born December 13th 1715. He arrived in America on 21st September 1742 on board the ship "Francis and Elizabeth".

Update note: There is another Christian Henrich who arrived under the age of 16 on September 11, 1732 of Palentines imported in the ship Pennsylvania. Jno. Stedman, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Plymouth. Sources: Sources: "A collection of upwards of thirty thousand names of German, Swiss, Dutch" by Israel Daniel Rupp (Page 73) It is also noted that a "Christian Hendrick" was on that ship. (Page 74)

He married Maria Margaretha nee Schlosser? or Scholzer?Wewer/Wewers/Boeberths/Biebers/Beeber/Beaverts/Bewaehrts/Beerwerth/Berwerth/Beavers/Baver born 3rd of May 1725. They settled at "Sharp Mountain" or "Spitzenberg" in Berks Counry, PA. Christian Henrich House appears in the "Goshenhoppen Registers" as the location of a Roman Catholic Mass house or Mission Station. It was part of the mission house out of Conewago,an older parish out of Bally, PA.
Goshenhoppen means, "meeting place" in the Indian language and this was a meeting place for the Catholic community.
Christian Henrich died December 13th at 80 years old. Christian Henrich and Maria Margaretha Henrich had at least seven children:

1. Christian Henrich,Jr. married 1st to Magdaline Bervertz/Wewers on September 20, 1767, the sister-in-law of Christopher Eckenrode/Eckroth's sister. Christian Henrich Jr. then married 2nd to Widow Anna Mary(Marie)Neuer Eckroth (Widow of George Eckroth(2)of Lynn township)married 20-27 November 1807 marriage was solemnized at the Goshenhoppen Catholic Chapel on 31st of July in 1808.(WK-book, page 403)

2. Elizabeth (Henrich) Married 1st May 16, 1773 George Jacob Riffel who was shot and killed in May 1775 by Daniel Starr; Elizabeth's 2nd Marriage was to Andreas "Andrew" Greth/Grett/Gredt Andrew Grett Jr. on November 17, 1777. Andrew Grett Jr. was born on July 17, 1755 and who died October 4, 1811, age 56 years, 2 months and 15 days.(WK-book, page 403)

3. Philip Henrich married May 16, 1773 to Elizabeth Weibel/Wibbels;probably the sister of John Weibel who married Philip's sister Anna Margaret Henrich (Goshenhoppen Registers, page 105, "Records", Volume 3, page 382). (WK-book, page 403) Philip and Elizabeth (Weibel) had a. Philip Adam Henrich buried at Old St. Henry's cemetery, Moselem PA.

4. John Adam (Henrich) married Marie Barbara Spring on January 19, 1777 (Goshenhoppen Registers, page 109; "Records", Volume 3, page 386). They had seven children and lived near Pine Swamp Rd. in Albany Township, Berks County, PA. Later moved to another area of PA. (WK-book page, 403) update note: John Adam (2) of Christian (1)Sr. was born ____? Unknown, and died January 1836 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County. He married Mary Barbara (Spring) on January 19, 1777 at St. Paul's Mission Goshenhoppen / Most Blessed Sacrament Church Bally, PA. 62,63, daughter of James Spring and Catharine Fuchs/Fox. She was born ____? Unknown, and died ____? Unknown.

5. Mary Magdalen (Henrich)married June 7, 1778 Henry Finck (Goshenhoppen Registers, Page 109; "Records", Volume 3, page 386). (WK-book, page 403)

6. Eva Mary (Henrich) married about 1768 to Adam Stahler (Goshenhoppen Registers, Page 36, and 64; "Records", Volume 3, pages 313 and 341).(WK-book, page 403)

7. Anna Margaretha (Henrich)1st married November 20, 1775 to , John Weibel by whom she had a daughter; Mary Margaret Weibel- born on August 16, 1776. (Goshenhoppen Registers page 60 and 108; "Records", Volume 3, page 337 and 385). John Weibel died between August 1776 and April 27, 1779, the date of Anna Margaret's (Henrich's) second marriage to Christopher Eckenroth/Eckenrode. I have not been able to determine what beame of their daughter, Mary Margaret Weibel. At the time of her mother's marriage to her second husband Christopher Eckenrode; Mary Margaret Weibel would have been almost 3 years old. Assuming that he was still living at that time, I have no doubt that Christopher Eckenrode would have welcomed her into his household in this census. For this reason, I believe she may not have survived to maturity, dying before 1790. (WK-book, page 403)

"Christian Henrich died on December 12, 1798 and was also buried "near Sharp Mountain" and though the church record gives his age at death as 83, his tombstone which like his wife's, has survived, gives his age as 80 years. His will, dated March 9, 1798 named his children as beneficiaries Christian, Eva Maria, Philip, (Anna) Margaret, Elizabeth, John, and Magdalena. Christian Jr. and son-in-law, Andrew Gred (Grett) were named executors. The estate was valued at $836.19 with no mention of real estate. The inventory included $715.12 in bonds & notes and $46.11 in cash. The remaining were household items including a bed, clock and case, saddle, a gun, 2 cows, etc. There were quite a few entries of varying lengths of linens, several barrels of whiskey, 12 bushels of Buckwheat, 24 bushels of Rye and an entry for grave stones." Update note: For some reason in the book, they changed the values to dollars and dropped the value of the gravestones. The estate value was £ 836.19.10 not $836.19 with £ 715.12.4 in bonds and notes and £ 46.11.8 in cash.

Note: The will dated March 9th 1798 gives 3 years after his death 1795. Hence the result of 83 years of age found in the Church death Register. Was he 80 or 83? Unless it was signed and dated by Christian Henrich Sr. Himself in 1798 then 1795 would be the actual year of death as found on the tombstone noting his age was 80 years old.

The Henrich homestead known as "Prüfmond" had been sold a few years earlier to Christian Henrich's son John Adam Henrich, and brothers and sisters were cautioned by the elder Henrich not to quarrel or question his wishes. This son later moved to Westmoreland County in western Pennsylvania with his family and at that time the ownership of the house in Albany Township was turned over to his Christian Henrich's son-in-law Christopher Eckenroth,(see Christopher Eckenrode for bio), the husband of his daughter, Anna Henrich. After a short period of time, the house and property were again sold and were no longer in possession of Henrich (Henry) family members.

Submitter's note: The Höfeordnung is a law governing the inheritance of a farm federal law, which dates back to the inheritance regulations of the Saxons, according to which the family owned farm had to go undivided to the oldest male heirs (Anerbenrecht). This inheritance law was fundamentally different from the real division practiced in southern Germany.

Please Note: The term of Land "Prüfmond" to me is considered land sold with "Improvements" usually known as "Imprufmonds" a German try at writting the word Improvements.

It is located in Greenawald, Albany Township. From Route 143 go 4 miles North of Route 1-78 Lenhartsville, Right on Spitzenberg Road. (Toward the Henniger Nursery).9 mile to Nursery Road. The site formally stood on the bank overlooking the creek North of the House situated on Nursery Road., .2 miles North (left)of intersection on a large size acreage.
