Jazz Musician. He was born Walter Joseph Candoli in Mishawaka, Indiana. An acclaimed trumpeter, Candoli started playing at the age of thirteen and would later work with some of the greatest Big Bands of the 1940s including Woody Herman, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Charlie Barnet. During the 1950s, he would establish himself as a reputable studio musician for such greats as Henry Mancini, Nelson Riddle, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Judy Garland. His instrumental contributions could be heard in numerous television programs and films. In addition to performing, he was also an accomplished arranger and composer. His younger brother Conte Candoli was also a renown trumpeter with whom he would tour. He was formerly married to actresses Vicky Lane, Betty Hutton and Edie Adams. He died from prostate cancer.
