Saturday Funeral Set for Retired Wichita Stockman

Funeral services for Dudley D. Deskines, 72, of 1432 S. Handley, will be held at Culbertson Mortuary at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. John Greenlee, pastor of West Side Christian Church, will officiate.

Mr. Deskines, a retired stockman, died at a local hospital Wednesday.

He was born April 16, 1884, at Lawrence, Kan., and came to Wichita 21 years ago from Emporia, Kan.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl; three sons, Lloyd of Emporia, Kan., Harden of Matfield Green, Kan., and Floyd of Fresno. Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Marion Cook of Ottawa, Kan., Mrs. Eliza Bush of Pomona, Kan., and Mrs. Diamond Bruce of Los Almitos, Calif.


NOTE - some sources show his middle initial as D. Early census records show as J., and he signed his name as Dudley Justice Deskines on his WW I Draft card.
