Charles Burka was the husband of Charlotte Richardson-Burka and the son of Ferdinand G. & Aloilia Beiyer-Burka. His mother died before coming to America. Ferdinand remarried and Charles was raised by his step-mother Catherine. Charles and wife Charlotte lived in Elwood for many years before moving to Gary, Indiana where Charles worked in the Gary Steel Mill for 50 years.
