Dorothy D. Austin of Longmont died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at her home. She was 91.

She was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Cairo, Mo., to Benoni and Rosa (Irwin) Rinehart.

She married Charley Ray Austin on May 11, 1935, in Moberly, Mo.

Mrs. Austin moved to Longmont in 1952 from Missouri.

She was a homemaker and was active with her husband in operating their farm and Ray"s Sport Shop, and was employed at First Christian Church (now LifeBridge Christian Church).

She was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church and the Home Craft Club in Longmont.

She will be remembered as an avid outdoorswoman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with her husband and family. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts including stained- glass work, and lots of cooking.

Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 6, 2005; a daughter, Patsy Landolt; three brothers; three sisters; and a grandson, Mark Landolt.

She is survived by a son, Dwight Austin and his wife Susan of Longmont; four daughters, Janice Waggoner and her husband Daniel of Thornton, Arleen Austin of Westminster, Charlotte Hein and her husband George of Tucson, Ariz., and Lynnette Guidi and her husband Guido of Littleton; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with family present to greet friends. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at LifeBridge Christian Church, 10345 Colo. Highway 66 in Longmont, with Chaplain Bob Ritzen of HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties officiating. Interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties or to LifeBridge Christian Church and sent to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.
