Deane Waldo Malott was born July 10, 1896 at Abilene, Kans son of a banker and sixth president of Cornell Univeristy at Ithaca, N. Y., a post he assumed after he had been the Chancellor of the University of Kansas since 1939. Malott served in the Navy in World War 1. He graduated from Kansas in 1921. He got his master's in business administration from Harvard in 1923. He always wanted to run a rural newspaper. His name is actually Deane Waldo Malott. He was the son of Michael H. Malott( born Indiana) and Edith J. Malott(born in Mass) of Dickinson County, Ks.He was tall medium build with brown eyes and brown hair. This taken from his WW1 Registration card.
