Mary Ellen Clark, homesteaded in a portion of Oklahoma known as the Cherokee Strip. She obtained a homestead in the southeast quadrant of Section 20 of what became in 1894 Black Bear Township named for the Black Bear Creek which flowed from west to east across the southern part of the township. Black Bear was near to present day Perry, in Noble County, Oklahoma.

Mary Ellen died in October, 1916. She is buried in Fairview Cemetery, south of Perry, Oklahoma. She is buried as the wife of A. B. Rorabaugh.
