Carrie Hatter Ashley, 94, died Thursday, January 3, 2008, at her home in Lowesville. She was born July 18, 1913, a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Ethel Campbell Hatter. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Henry Campbell and Douglas Ashley. Carrie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Kingswood Baptist Church. She retired from the Lynchburg Training Center with over twenty six years of service. She is survived by two sons Douglas L. Ashley, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Lynchburg, and Willie Delbert Campbell and his wife, Kathleen, of Madison Heights; one sister Virginia Massie, of Lowesville; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Dreyfous, a brother, Walter Hatter, and two sisters, Hattie Ashley and Nannie Marsh. Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Reverend John Campbell and the Reverend Carroll Martin, Jr. with burial in Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
