Elsie left college in Lamoni, Iowa to take care of her younger brothers and sister after her mother, Rosella, died.
On 12 March 1918 she married William Keith James and together they had four children; Harold Lee, Irlene Rozella, Ollie Dean and Carroll Max. W.K. preceded her in death as did two of her children - Irlene and Carroll.
Elsie was quietly loving to her family, loyal to friends, steadfast in her beliefs and comforting to those in need. She was fair, not judgmental, hard working and a rock for her family. She was a person who practiced the true meaning of the word "charity".
The world is a smaller place without Elsie Pearl Bowen James in it. Our beloved mother and grandmother.
