Mr. Harry K. Barton, 90, of Dahlonega, Ga. and a former resident of Hogansville, Ga. died Saturday, January 1, 2000, at Gateway Healthcare Center in Cleveland.

Mr. Barton ws born June 7, 1909 in Greenville, S. C., son of the late William and Ozella Goins Barton. Before making his home in Dahlonega seven years ago, he lived in Hogansville most of his life and retired as a production scheduler for Uniroyal Inc. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church in Hogansville, was a former member of the Hogansville Lions Club, and was a former Boy Scout leader. Mr. Barton was a former member of the Hogansville City Council and was a longtime member of the Hogansville Sportsmans Club.
A funeral was held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Rev. Max McCord officiating.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Bettye and Travis Chaffin of Hogansville, Harriett and Jim Brown of Dahlonega; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bill Barton of Colfax, Wash., Bob and Beverly Barton of Dahlonega, Jerry and Pat Barton of Dunwoody; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Frank and Laconia Barton and Corrie Mae Spradlin, all of Hogansville; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Barton may be made to Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church in Hogansville.
