Tilden H. Wise, a retired farmer of Polk County, died at Samaritan hospital at 7 p.m. Saturday after suffering a heart attack last week.
Born in Perry Township, Nov. 26, 1876, he was the son of David and Ella Chase Wise and had lived his entire life in Ashland County.
Mr. Wise attended the Polk Methodist church and was a member of the Charles Miller Camp of the United Spanish Veterans and the VFW of Ashland. He served as a trustee of Jackson township for a number of years.
On Jan. 8, 1902 he was married to Sylvia Ann Hartzel who preceeded him in death with one daughter and a sister.
Surviving are four sons, Nelson, Raymond and Gaylord, Ashland and Fred, Houston, Texas; sic daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Leckrone, Zanesville, Mrs. Grace Snoddy, Albion, Mrs. Lucille Thrush, New Pittsburg, Mrs. Virginia Wade, Mansfield, Mrs. Alice Rickett, Polk, and Mrs. Helen Mansfield, Ashland; three brothers, Frank, Ashland, Albert, Springfield, and James, Barberton;sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Gilbert funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Bennethum officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in the Polk cemetery with military services by the VFW.
