Our special angel, Amanda Brooke Eaton, returned home to our Heavenly Father on Dec. 12, 2007. She was in the loving arms of her mom and dad and the love of her life, fiancé Devin Bradley.
Amanda was born March 11, 1989 in Roosevelt, after a troubled time trying to make it to this earth. She spent two weeks in the newborn ICU at University Hospital.
A very loving child, she carried a baby doll with her everywhere she went. Her love for dolls only grew as she got older. She still has them all as they are very special to her.
She loved her chosen career path. She had earned her CNA certificate and had worked at Dr. Griffith's office and at the Uintah Care Center. She had a special love for the residents of the care center. One resident loved to dance and Amanda was a willing dance partner.
Amanda was a sweet and gentle spirit. She always wanted to please her family. She had her ideas and goals, keeping lists of what she wanted to accomplish. She sought her parents' input and approval before pursuing any of these activities. She valued their perspective, experience, and wisdom.
Amanda always wanted a little sister. Having a strong testimony of the power of prayer and pure faith, she prayed for years and was blessed with her sister, Alison, whom she adored. Vance and Cindy wrote a poem to Amanda to announce her long awaited sisterhood.
Amanda had such a great love for life; she especially enjoyed music, family vacations and road trips. As long as she had her baby doll in her lap, she could travel for days in pure contentment. She graduated from Uintah High School in May, 2007. She was a member of the National Honor Society and sang with the a cappella choir.
She was faithful at reading her scriptures, saying her prayers, writing in her journal, and keeping an active list of her goals. She could not find fault in others and continually sought ways to improve herself. From the first day when she and Devin met, all she did was try to find ways to make him happy and to make their relationship better and that's what she wanted to spend her time doing.
Amanda is survived by parents, Vance and Cindy Eaton; sister, Alison; and her best friend and fiancé, Devin Bradley. She is also survived by her grandparents, Rell and Kathy Merkley and Larry and Ruey Eaton (all of Vernal) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at the Davis Chapel (3990 South 1500 East). Viewing was Friday evening, from 6 to 8 at Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Burial in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
