SNYDER, Texas -- Graveside rites for John Riley Selman, 93, Sulphur, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hillside Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Hightower officiating.

Born Oct. 16, 1905, at Mills County, Texas, to Henry S. and Nettie Lee Steele Selman, he died Nov. 6, 1998, at Sulphur. He married Kathaline Chora on Nov. 28, 1936, at Snyder. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 1973. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joe R., and a stepson, James Van Ness.

Selman lived most of his life in the Lubbock and Snyder area. He moved to Sulphur in 1993. He was a retired service station attendant and oil field worker. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Snyder.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Malloy, Sulphur, and Linda Barton, Ransom Canyon, Texas; one son, Derwood, Lindale, Texas; one brother, Monroe, San Antonio,; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
