Pfc. JOSEPH CAUSE
Guiseppi [sic] Cause, born in 1914, graduated from Woburn High School. In civilian life, he was associated with his father in business; for three years he also was engaged in the shipping room of the Lord Tanning Co.
"Joe", a private firrst [sic] class, had been a sergeant in the Army Band. When the call for infantrymen for the French front came, the Band was broken up to provide men. Since the Infantry had their quota of sergeants, the men were reduced in rank.
Private Cause was killed in action on Nov. 25, 1944, and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cause,... three sisters, Mrs. Rose Clagy of Penacook, N.H., Mrs. Catherine Anderson of Leominster, Miss Mary Cause of Roxbury, two brothers, James and Frederick Cause.

The remains of PFC Cause were originally buried in Germany but were reinterred at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn, Mass., on Jan. 12, 1949.
