Kathleen was born January 18, 1923 in Glendale, Utah to Walter Stilley Carpenter and Nellie Black. Kathleen passed away on Friday, November 25th 2005 in a Riverside, California nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Kathleen graduated from Dixie College in St. George, Utah. with her teaching credential. In December 1944 she married Neal D. Asay and moved to Salt Lake City. She taught school while Neal finished his education. After leaving Utah they moved to California and lived in San Diego for 15 years, then moved to Riverside in 1968. She taught at Harrison Elementary School until her retirement in 1981. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Neal, in April 2005, who she married on on December 23, 1944 in the St. George LDS Temple.

She was survived by two sons, Mark of Riverside and Craig (Patti) of Yucaipa. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Natalie Asay.

A Viewing was held at 12 Noon and Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3rd 2005 a at the University Heights Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 181 East Blaine Street in Riverside.
Kathleen was laid to rest on Monday, December 5th 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Riverside National Cemetery beside her Husband, Neal.
