A graduate of the University of NC; Mrs. Sikes taught school in Albermarle, NC, for nearly 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Jennings Sikes, Jr., who died in 1978. They married in 1940. Survivors include children, O.J. Sikes III & his wife, Elena, Leonia, NJ, Mary Williamson Sikes, Raleigh, NC, Dr. William A Sikes & his wife, Jennie, Rose Valley, PA; grandchildren, O.J. Sikes IV, Ridgewood, NJ, Marianne Sikes Grush & husband, Eric, Foster Wilder Sikes & wife, Keri, & John L. Sikes; three great-grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Grush & William Jennings Grush, & Matthew Wilder Sikes. Interment followed funeral services conducted Wednesday, November 30, 2005.
