James Lyons
James E. Lyons, 51, of Lawrenceville, Chester R.D. 1, died Monday at 10:50 p.m., minutes after arrival at City Hospital after taking ill at home. He was born Dec. 26, 1926, at Lawrenceville, a son of Clyde W. Lyons of Chester and Inez Snyder Heckathorne of Grand Junction, Colo. Mr. Lyons was a maintenance foreman for the Ceramic Products Division of Anchor Hocking at Chester, the former Taylor, Smith and Taylor Co., where he had been employed 15 years. He was an World War ll Army veteran, having served in Germany, and was a lifetime resident of Chester. In addition to his parents, survivors include his widow, Mary E. Campbell Lyons, at home, to whom he was married Feb. 14, 1948, in Chester; a son, William D. Lyons of Wellsville; two daughters, Mrs. John (Cheryl) Broadbent of Prairie Village, Kan., and Mrs. Phillip (Susan) Smith of Chester; a stepmother, Mrs. Macie Lyons of Chester; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Betty) Green of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Gene (Louise) Fortman of San Diego, Cal.; a stepbrother, Richard Kennedy of Pomona, Calif., and six grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel at Chester, with the Rev. Arch D. McGaffic of Hookstown officiating. Burial will be in Mill Creek Cemetery at Hookstown. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and night, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
