Cletus F. Bender, 81, Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Patton and Johnstown, died Nov. 21, 1999, at Altoona Hospital. He was born June 5, 1918, in Patton, the son of the late Cletus W. and Frances G. (Williams) Bender. He married Ruth Richards, who preceded him in death.
Survived by three sisters: Julia Samples, Pittsburgh, Delillius G. Berleue, Ebensburg, and Mary G. Meadows, Weiser, Idaho; a brother, William J., Hollidaysburg; and two grandsons. Mr. Bender retired from the Johnstown Post Office in 1980. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting and collecting plates. Friends were received from 7-9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22, and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Stevens Funeral Homes Inc., Carrolltown.
