William was drafted into the US Army and when he arrived in Vietnam 19 September 1968, he was assigned to HHC, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, USARV. William was a passenger in a military vechicle when they were ambushed by hostile forces. William died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms fire during the firefight in Hau Nghia Province.
Survived by his wife, Stephonie J Morrell and his father; Robert W Morrell both of Hayward, California and his mother; Daphne Morrell of Verdi, Neveda and 2 brothers, Frank and Robert Morrell.
