Charles Otis Hamal, Dallas, Ore, 75, a covered bridge builder, died Tuesday. Interment at Strout Cemetery at Nashville, a Lincoln County community where Hamar lived most of his life. He had resided in Dallas for the past five years. An engineer, he was directly re sponsible for the construction of many of the covered bridges in Lincoln County, and some in Polk County. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Dorothy Hamas; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Tindall, Mrs. Mildred Vincent; a brother, Louis Hamar; and a grandson.
Hamar was turning his car around on Highway 20 near tha summit of the Coast Range when he was stricken with a heart attack about noon Tuesday.
He was born in Prineville but lived most of his life in Nashville in Lincoln County.
