Ramon J. Benavidez, 69, a lifetime resident of Montezuma, N.M. passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Montezuma, N.M. on May 1, 1938 to the late Floripa M. Benavidez.
He was united in marriage on January 7, 1961 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M. to Dora Francisca Nunez.
He was employed as a truck driver for the Lester Construction.
A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and also a Penitente.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Floripa M. Benavidez, in 1974; daughter Susan Benavidez; sons Raymond ‘Gingo' Benavidez and John Timothy Benavidez.
He is survived by his wife, Dora F. Benavidez of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters and sons Anna Benavidez, Dori Benavidez and Christian Quintana all of Las Vegas, N.M., Jesse Benavidez and Isabel Papilla of Montezuma, N.M., Maria Contreras and husband Chris of Albuquerque and Esperanza Solano and husband Dennis of Montezuma, N.M.; step-brother Eloy Perea and wife Sharon of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Las Vegas, N.M.. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Camposanto de Jesus Maria Y Jose Cemetery Montezuma, N.M. with the following serving as casket bearers: Dennis Solano, John Edward Solano, Anthony Benavidez, Cody Benavidez, Bobby Benavidez and David Bennett. Serving as honorary bearers will be all his grandchildren.
