TACOMA, Wash. -- Services for Ardmore native Daisy McKerson Stallworth, 57, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Allen AME Church in Tacoma, Wash., under the direction of Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Stelacoom Blvd.

Mrs. Stallworth died Sept. 1, 1997, at her home in Graham, Wash. She was born in Ardmore and graduated from Douglass High School in 1957.

She moved to Tacoma in 1967 and became the Pierce County manager of the Community Development Block Grant program, and in 1966, she became director of the Department of Community and Economic Development. After becoming executive director, Community and Economic Development and Community Action merged into a new department and she merged two agencies into the Human Services Department. She helped develop the county's strategic economic plan and founded the Pierce County Community Development and Community Investment corporations.

Stallworth, Pierce County's executive director of community and human services, was active in numerous community organizations, among them Northwest Trek Foundation, Tacoma Urban League, NAACP, Rotary International, First Interstate Bank Community Advisory Council, and Economic Development Board of Tacoma.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy, of the home; a son, Luke A. Stevenson Jr., Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Stephanie Caldwell, Tacoma, and Sonja Stevenson, Oak Harbor, Wash.; her parents, Mazola and Alfred McKerson Sr., Ardmore; two brothers, Donald and Alfred McKerson, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Flossie Thurston, Oklahoma City; and five grandchildren.
