She was born in Ranger on Jan. 14, 1912, the daughter of Luster C. and Arizona Saunders-Price. She was a homemaker and member of United Methodist Women's Missionary Society, Ladies Aid Society, and was the oldest member of Ranger United Baptist Church in Ranger. W.Va. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and Bible schoolteacher. She had lived in the Dunkirk area since moving from West Virginia in 1959. She also attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Dunkirk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Jinks J. Adkins; a daughter, Anna Mae Kirby; two brothers, Dillard Price and Dirl Price; two sisters, Nellie Elliott and June Skeens; and a grandson, Larry "Keith" Fraley.
Lena leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Zona Fraley-Brenner (George) of Dunkirk; one son, William H. Fraley of Ranger; son-in-law, Gerald R. Kirby (Sandy) of Redkey; two brothers, Harold Price (Pauline) of Ranger, and Howard Price (Mildred) of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Blanche McClellan of Niebert; a brother-in-law, Paul Skeens of Dunkirk; a sister-in-law, Pearl Price of Ranger; six grandchildren, Alan Malcolm Fraley (Joy) of Redkey, Mark A. Fraley (Belen) of Freehold, N.J., Paul D. Fraley of Dunkirk, Rita A. Floyd (Jim) of Dunkirk, Neal Kirby (Mary) of Anderson, Ind., and Curtis Kirby (Amy) of Englewood, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Karri Brenner of Peoria, Ariz., Kristeena Brenner of Indianapolis, Ind., Shawn Brenner-Monroe of Dunkirk, and Shane Brenner of Monrovia, Ind.; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Ranger United Baptist Church in Ranger. Burial will be held in Sanders Cemetery, Ranger Ridge, W.Va.
Friends may greet the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin.
