Emma Laura Mathena Belcher, 87, of Pearl Street, Princeton, went on to glory Tuesday evening, December 11, 2007, Princeton Community Hospital.

Born November 7, 1920, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Sidney Mathena and Hazel Blanch Poff Mathena.

Emma was educated in Princeton, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a caring and loving caregiver for her family. She was a member of the First Church of God, Mahood Avenue, Princeton. Emma loved serving her Lord, doing for her family, was an avid gardener with flowers and vegetables. She was honored by a local garden club and the Princeton Times for her beautiful flowers and gardens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett David Belcher; a sister, Ella Six; and a brother, Randolph Mathena.

Survivors: Her children, Regina Snead and husband Buster of Princeton, Steven Belcher of Princeton and his special friend, Diane of Saginaw, Mich.; grandchildren, Tim Snead, John Snead and Susan Bennett and husband Andrew; great-grandchildren, Derek, Lindsay, Lauren and Autumn; siblings, Annie Bradbury and Jessie Morris both of Princeton, Basil Mathena and wife Freda of Holiday, Fla., Willis Mathena and wife Bonnie of Princeton, Wilfred Mathena and wife Cuzzie of Bluefield; sister in law, Crystal Neely of Princeton; and for her special caregivers of GlenWood Retirement Village, Sharon, Karen, and Janet Sigmon, and all the nurses in ICU with PCH, and Chaplain, Dr. Steve Lilly.

A Homegoing service of celebration will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Paul Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family today from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends may share online condolences via www.memorialfd.com

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Snead, John Snead, Derek Snead, Matthew Morris, Dwayne Harvey and Frank Williams.
