Carol was born May 25, 1932, in Kenmare, the fourth child (Llewellyn, Walter, Myrna, Carol)of Walter Carl Christensen and Marie Albertina Davick. She attended school in Kenmare and received a degree in dietetics from the University of North Dakota. Grand Forks, ND in 1954. She married MICHAEL BOTHUM in Kenmare, ND on June 20, 1954. After graduating from UND, they moved to Minneapolis where they lived for two years. They then moved to Bismarck in 1960.
She sang alto in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Choir for over 40 years. She was also an active member of the Bismarck-Mandan Garden Club and the Prairie Rose Club.
Carol worked at Hughes Junior High School and the North Dakota Supreme Court. She retired in 1997.
Carol was a gracious, loving woman with a nurturing spirit and open heart. Her guide was God. Her love was family and friends and her garden was her sanctuary.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Mike, Bismarck; her daughters, Kristen LaFavor, Minneapolis,MN, and Maren (Steve) Olson, Hoople, ND; her son, Eric (Bernie) Bothun, Beulah, ND; seven grandchildren, Britt Olson, Christopher Bothun, Evan Bothun, Bennett Olson, Anna LaFavor, Kari Olson and Dane LaFavor; one brother, Walter Christensen; one sister, Myrna (Patton) Christopherson-Kline; one sister-in-law, Marge (Fred) Christensen-Rube; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lee Christensen; one sister-in-law, Maureen Christensen; and one brother-in-law, Weston Christopherson.
