Josephine Barron was born in Falls County, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Hudson Barron and Mary Jane Shelton on May 26, 1864. She married Joseph Layfette Litteral in McLennan County in 1879. Twelve children were born to this union; Mary Elizabeth, Claud, Carrie, Ron Cali, Kate, Hallie, Thedford, Ema, Mae, Ben, Alford, and an unnamed infant son. Josephine died at the age of 34, on April 12, 1899, in Durant, Bryan County, Oklahoma of unknown causes.
