OBITUARY-
Ada Bailey, wife of the late Mr. B. M. H. Bailey, died at her home at Big Creek Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31, 1923 after a brief illness caused by paralysis. Mrs. Bailey was 66 years of age and had spent most of life here at this place. Five children survive, Mary, Susan, Carter, Staley an Wilburn.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and her life was pure, noble and sweet. She was known among her friends as a very kindhearted Christian woman with graces of mind and heart that bound her especially to her children at home and to the others who were absent by the ties of affection. She died as she had lived, in the affections of her people. When the Master called she quietly slipped over the border into the peaceful abode reserved for God's faithful followers. The death of this good woman takes away one of the oldest residents and is marked with the deepest feeling of regret.
Of course those who have not gone through with this sad hour can never realize how it is, but at least we can sympathize with those in sorrow, especially the broken-hearted children.
Services were held on the first of February at Chapel Hill church by Rev. Bullard and the remains were interred at the cemetery with a tribute of flowers.

(A copy of the obituary can be found in the "Margaret Funderburg Willis Scrapbook" at the Calhoun County Historical Society building.)
