Rosa Weidner

Rosa Weidner, 94, of Cameron died Jan. 31, 2003 in a Temple hospital. The Rev. Jim Lafferty officiated at her funeral Feb. 2 with burial following in the Snead Chapel Cemetery near Jones Prairie Community.

She was born Jan. 7, 1909 in the Jones Prairie Community and was a homemaker, former teacher and member of the Methodist church. She was a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Braunfels.

Weidner graduated from Jones Prairie schools and from high school in Maysfield, Okla. prior to receiving her teaching certificate from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1929. She taught school in Ben Arnold, String Prairie and Jones Prairie. She also led troops of Brownies and Girl Scouts in New Braunfels and Cameron for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Weidner in 1986.

She is survived by her son John O. Weidner and wife Diane of Houston and Clarence W. Weidner of Cameron; daughters Alma Lue Wenzel of Trinity, Melba Sue Lanicek and husband Johnnie of Clarkston, Clare-Rose Black of Jones Prairie and Lee Janet Riding of Cameron; brothers R.M. White and Ed S. White both of Cameron and B.D. "Whistle" White of Jones Prairie; sisters Alma Jewel White of Rosebud and Ruby Lee Lynch of Jones Prairie; grandchildren Brenda Haley, Clifford Wenzel, Danny Wenzel, Dave Black, Wayne Lanicek, Sara Yarbrough, Jeff Weidner and Melissa Bosley; and nine great-grandchildren.
