Thanks, Nancy (Letcher) Heib.
----------------------------------
Note: There are many of the
"Schenck", "Sutphen", and
"Amerman/Ammerman" families that are
buried in Hunterton County, and
in Somerset County, New Jersey,
listed on this find-a-grave web site.
-----------------------------------
Note: Some genealogies list
Eliza Ann's maiden name as
"Schenck" and "Schanck".
On her son John A. Ammerman's
death certificate, she is listed as
Eliza "Schank". In article on son John,
she is listed as Eliza Ann "Shanck".
It should be "Schenck".
---------------------------------
Note:
Her date-of-birth of July 23, 1806
is calculated from the cemetery records,
located in the Indiana State Library.
---------------------------------
Eliza Ann Schenck was married
on Sept. 13, 1823
to William Amerman
(spelled with only two "m's" on his
headstone, per Witter Cemetery records,
and also, on his wife Eliza's headstone
in the Hamilton Church Cemetery).
William was the son of Abraham
("Abram") Amerman, who was a native of
Germany, and his wife Margaret Ryker.
William was born Oct. 22, 1802
in Somerset County, New Jersey.
---------------------------------
Note: Eliza Ann's sister
Catherine Schenck (b. 1803) married
a James Amerman in 1828 and they
had ten or eleven children.
(Could James and William Amerman
have been brothers or cousins?)
--------------------------------
William and Eliza Ann were living
in Bridgewater Twp., Somerset County
New Jersey in June of 1830 when their
eldest son Abraham was born, and living
in Somerville, Somerset Co. New Jersey
in March of 1834, when their daughter
Mary Catherine was born.
-----------------------------------
William and Eliza's family moved from
Somerset County New Jersey to Wayne
County Ohio in 1838 (per article on
their son John, in "The Complete
History of Sullivan County Missouri,
Volume 1, 1836-1900").
(Click on John's name below to read article).

The 1840 census of Franklin Township,
Wayne County Ohio lists a William

(Their youngest child Ellen Ann
was born in Ohio in 1846).
-----------------------------
They then moved from Wayne County
Ohio, to St. Joseph County Indiana
in 1849 (per same article on son
John as mentioned above).
[They must have meant to say that
they moved to "Indiana" in 1849,
because
the 1850 census shows them living
in Richland, Fulton County Indiana].
---------------------------------
In the 1860 census
Wm. and Eliza A. Amerman and their
youngest daughter Ellen Ann are
living in Warren Township,
St. Joseph County Indiana
(South Bend post office).
William is listed as 57 years of age.
Also living with them is their
daughter Mary Catherine and her
husband James Kizer Sr. and three
of their daughters children.

Per: "St. Joseph County, Indiana
Cemetery Inscriptions, Vol. 5",
published by the
"South Bend Area Genealogical
Society", which lists the records of
the cemetery inventoried by the
"Graves Restoration Project"
(a WPA project done in 1939).
-------------------------------
William is buried between a nephew
and a great-nephew of William's
son-in-law James Kizer Sr.
William is buried next to Marcellus
D. Kizer, born in 1854 and died in
German Twp. on June 21, 1861 at
7 years, 3 months, and 22 days.
Marcellus was the son of Abraham Force
Kizer and his wife Caroline Hoffimer
Kizer (A. F. & C. Kizer).
Abraham F. Kizer was the brother of
Mary Catherine Ammerman's husband,
James Kizer Sr.
Also buried next to William
is Franklin Kizer (possibly
Benjamin Franklin Kizer), who died
March 15, 1864 at 1 year, 9 months
and 22 days, the son of
Elmer O. Kizer and his wife Elizabeth
Annastisha Kizer (E. & E. A. Kizer).

See the bio for
Ellen Ann (Ammerman) Burruss
on this web site.
Ellen and her husband are buried
near Ellen's brother John Ammerman,
in the "Ammerman" plot, in the
Pleasantville cemetery, in Mystic,
Sullivan County Missouri.
(Perhaps they followed her brother
John to Sullivan County Missouri).
Note: After Ellen's death, James
possibly was married to Mary Catherine
Patrick (the sister of John A. Ammerman's
wife Hannah M. Patrick), and he had
six more children with Mary Catherine.
