Elizabeth, was First born child of Eight, First born daughter of Five of Joseph W. and Margaretha (Long) Winkler.

Sister of Andrew, Anna (Weidner), Mary, Joseph, Bertha (Steiner), George Winkler and Francis (Weldey).

Wife of John May Melcher, whom she married on February 10, 1892, I've also seen May 10, 1892, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, St. Bernard (Lindsay), Nebraska.

Mother of Thirteen children whom are: Frank, George, Lillian (Dahlheim), Edward, William, Gilbert, Henry, Josephus, Mathilda, Teresia, Mathilda (Korth), Walter and Charlotte (Overbay).

My Mother (Mary)
told me that Elizabeth was a devout Catholic. She said when her sisters and her would spend the night / weekends with Grandpa and Grandma every morning they would have to say prayers before the cross and drink holy water.

She said Lizzie was a nice Grandma, when her parents divorced in 1952 she never saw Grandma again.
