According to Ferne Anderson her grandparent's came from Sweden and homesteaded in Nebraska. They lived in a sod house until about 1896 just before their youngest son was born. They had nine children with two dying in infancy. They moved their family to Kingsburg, California in 1909 from McCook, Nebraska.

Andrew married Clara Nylander in about 1880 in Sweden.
