John Eugene Adydan, 77, of East Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at home. Gene was the son of the late Karol and Mary Kowalik Adydan and a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. He retired in 1976 from the Syracuse Fire Dept. after 20 years. He also had worked for Syracuse University Dining Services and was a driver for Hoyer's Hearse Service. Gene was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church, East Syracuse, a member of Syracuse Retired Fire Fighters Association, Syracuse Fire Fighter Local 280, United Police and Fire Retirees Association of NY, Arthur Butler American Legion Post 359 and Peace Keepers in East Syracuse. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Hahn Adydan, 1998; three brothers, Stanley, Edward and Chester; and a sister, Nellie Bourg. He is survived by two sons, Stanley R. (Roberta) of East Syracuse and Steven (Margaret) of Marietta; three grandchildren, Emily, Carly and Eric; a sister, Genny Smith of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his companion of two years, Isabelle Travers. Funeral Services: 9 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Church. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
