Algia Holifield, 97, of Laurel, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Mill Creek Cemetery with the Revs. Jimmy Holder and Jerry Roberson officiating.
He was a retired salesman and a member of Pleasant Grove Bapt. Church.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nelda Holifield; daughter, Kay Walters; brothers, Beasley, Willie, and Josh Holifield; sisters; Mary King, Emma Jenkins, Julie Craven, Vella Beard, and Eula Kilpatrick.
Survivors include his wife, Ester Henderson Holifield of Laurel; two daughters, Aljean Young of Meridian and Janelle Stephens of Laurel; brother, Charles L. Holifield of Laurel; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Young, Lavelle Walters, Tommy Henderson, Delton Perry, Ulysses Cooley, Charles Burkes, and Mickey Holloway.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Nelda Holifield Music Scholarship at JCJC.
Visitation will be Monday from5 until 8 p.m. at Memory Chapel, which is in charge of the arrangement.
