She moved to Miami in 1942 to join her husband Joseph W. Eckhart who was stationed at the Richmond Naval air station, now home of Metro Zoo. They shared 65 years of love together during which time she worked as a legal secretary for many prominent attorneys and watched the town turn into the major city it is today."Nana" was small in stature but big in her love and caring for her family and others. In her retirement years she became an avid decorative painter. She was an active member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a dedicated servant of the Lord.
Survived by her husband, son James M. Eckhart (wife Cindy) grandchildren James M., Jr. and Jennifer Marie; daughter Claire A. Powell (husband Buddy) and grandchildren Brian E. and Kevin A. Powell along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched but mother will be in our hearts forever.
