Helen and her sister Esther arrived together on December 6, 1905 at the port of Philadelphia and they are buried together. Their maiden name is given in some records as Hagopian, a traditional naming convention meaning "child of Hagop" by which children would take their father's first name as their last. However other records give their maiden name as Minassian, which was likely Hagop's family name. Helen and Esther's last residence in Turkey was Smyrna, likely they had traveled there from Arapkir to get a ship, but how long they lived there is not known. They reached Liverpool and then sailed to Philadelphia, arriving December 6, 1905. Their contact there was Nartouhi Mukhalian, who happened to have the maiden name Minassian as well, and thus might have been their father's sister but there is no record to confirm this guess. Helen had resided at the Mukhalian home of 1331 Brandywine Street and was a housewife. She died of pneumonia, and her year of death is wrong on the stone. The ship manifest says Helen was older while the gravestone has Esther older. Presumably Helen married a Basmajian but no marriage record has been found yet.
