Eric Alfred Neumann, a technician for Combined Energy Services in Monticello, NY, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at his home in Liberty, NY. He was 59.
The son of the late Eric H. Neumann and Esther Buynar Bass Neumann, he was born April 29, 1948 in San Diego, CA. Eric was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968-1969, with Company C 2nd Battalion 5th Cavalry, First Air Cavalry where he earned three Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and the Air Medal. He was also a member of the 5th U.S. Cavalry Association, the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Clarence Hoyt VFW Post in Liberty.
A family statement reads, "All gave some. Eric gave all."
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Ann Kreiter Neumann, at home; two daughters, Geri Neumann and husband Craig Duffy of Liberty, and Barbi Neumann-Marty and her husband Daniel, of Parksville NY; his grandchildren, Ellen Rose and Erin Duffy of Liberty and Dianna and Sofia Marty of Parksville; a sister, Pamela Neumann Murphy and husband Thomas of Callicoon, NY; an aunt, Estelle Buynar of Nyack, NY; an uncle, Alfred Buynar of Virginia; his mother-in-law, Alice Dillon Kreiter; sisters-in-law Margaret Kreiter Lindstadt and Kathleen Kreiter; and a brother-in-law, Peter Kreiter, all of Monticello; nephews Kevin Murphy, Edward Lindstadt, Keith Restrepo and Kyle Kreiter; nieces Kim Murphy and Suzanne Lindstadt; his beloved pet, Boober, at home; and his brothers of the C 2/5 and the Obernburg Militia.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Burial with military honors followed at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
