SPEARMAN - Rosa Lee Butt, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Dyess and the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Rosa Lee was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Miami to Everett and Carrie Clement. She moved to Spearman in 1929 from Miami. She graduated from Spearman High School and attended West Texas State. She married Herbert Butt on Sept. 8, 1942, in Clayton, N.M., who preceded her in death in 1978. She was a homemaker.

Rosa Lee was a "true servant," donating much of her time to many organizations and people. Her talent for cooking and her love for others benefited many through the years. She served on the Hansford Hospital board from 1987 through 1994; she was a founding member of the Hansford Hospital Auxiliary; she had been a devoted member of First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was honored with the Citizen Over the Years award in 1983. She was a founding board member of the Golden Spread Senior Citizens.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Carrie Clement; and two brothers, Everett David Clement Jr. and Charles Earl Clement.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Guthrie and husband Kent of Amarillo; two sons, Larry Butt and wife Robbie of Lubbock and Terry Butt and wife Patty of Spearman; a sister, Betty Jean Davis and husband Irvin of Spearman; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 637, Spearman, TX 79081; Golden Spread Senior Citizens, P.O. Box 817, Spearman, TX 79081; or the Spearman Scholarship Fund, in care of Spearman Rotary Club, P.O. Box 492, Spearman, TX 79081.
