CLEMMONS - Mr. Quentin R. Chaffee Jr., 74, of Clemmons passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Chaffee was born in Waverly, N.Y., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Quentin R. and Irma Selgrath Chaffee. He was a retiree from AMP, Inc. where he served as a quality control engineer, as well as a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Essex. Mr. Chaffee was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a lay leader, Sunday school teacher of the Culp and Gibson classes and a member of the Bible study group. He was a longtime Optimist and Twin City Soccer Coach. Mr. Chaffee was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Boyer Chaffee and a stepson, Scott Bingham. He is survived by his wife; daughter; sons; six grandchildren; a step-grandchild; sister; stepchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bret Cogan and the Rev. Charles M. Turner Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 16, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton Street SW, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
